Most belts are offered in sizes no larger than 95–100 cm (≈ 37–39 in), effectively excluding a significant portion of the population: individuals with large waist sizes, broad physiques, but also very slim people or young adults. This allows industrial machinery to be used efficiently but greatly limits available lengths.

- Alligator: the premium round-side panel requires manual joining, incompatible with industrial production that favors square patterned rolls.
- Ostrich: the dotted area demands uniformity, making long belts without visible seams extremely challenging.

- manual selection of compatible leather pieces;
- invisible joins executed by the master craftsman;
- matching tanning to prevent color variation;

This makes it possible to offer non-standard belt sizes without compromise, something industrial production simply cannot achieve.

Today, most brands, from fast fashion to luxury, operate on cost-saving, material efficiency, and profit-maximization principles. Suppliers notice that over time, material quality has declined while prices continue to rise. Customers needing specific sizes (large or very slim) are often left out.
In the past, companies led by “old-school artisans or entrepreneurs†prioritized love for craft over profit. Materials and production choices were driven by quality and a long-term legacy rather than immediate financial gain.
